Joseph M. Kulak

Joe Kulak, Vice President of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), has over 30 years of HSE experience at Novartis. His responsibilities are leading and coordinating the North American HSE Network, coordinating and supporting US Corporate Citizenship activities, and managing issues relating to Novartis Environmental liabilities and performing HSE due diligence in strategic transactions.

Mr. Kulak also oversees Novartis Emergency Management (NEM), which is a comprehensive response program that Novartis has in place for any type of emergency at any one of its company locations in the United States.

Prior to joining Novartis Corporate in 2004, Mr. Kulak was Global Head, HSE, Novartis Emergency Management (NEM) and Business Continuity for Novartis Consumer Health and Gerber. Under his leadership, Gerber had the best safety performance of any company within Novartis.

Mr. Kulak began his career at Novartis in 1977 as Safety Supervisor in the Toms River Plant of the Ciba-Geigy Corporation, which later merged with Sandoz to form Novartis. Since then he has assumed positions of increasing responsibility within the Novartis organization.

Mr. Kulak's other experience includes Production Management with a major food company and a refinery.

Mr. Kulak is a Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and holds a B.A. in Pre-Law from Seton Hall University and a Masters degree in Occupational Safety and Health from New York University.
